Description
Receive, process and prepare merchandise that supports the store's sales and customer service efforts through prompt execution of Receiving and Processing.
Essential Functions/Duties:
- Receive, load, un-load, count, weigh, measure, code and store materials on or from freight vehicles.
- Move material using appropriate material handling tools and equipment including but not limited to: by hand, hand truck, pallet-jack, dolly and/or operation of forklifts or other vehicles.
- Open and/or unwrap crates, boxes, cartons, and other containers using hammers, crowbars, cutting tools and tape.
- Wrap, seal and secure material on pallets for distribution.
- Collect, sort and/or stack such items or materials: as clothes, fertilizers, tools, lawn/garden supplies, machines, feed and all other products sold by the company.
- Report any discrepancies in receiving to designated supervisor/manager
- Prepare merchandise for the selling floor by stripping plastic, changing tags and placing security tags on merchandise as required.
- Assists with Return-to-Vendor, inter-company merchandise transfers and inventory cycle counts.
- Track merchandise through the use of receiving forms and computer inventory software.
- Assist in stockroom clean-up and maintenance as needed.
- All other duties as assigned by direct supervisor or store management that relates to the receiving, merchandising and selling of goods.
Requirements
Required Skills/Experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in inventory or merchandise receiving. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work quickly while maintaining accurate records. Must be comfortable in working with computer receiving software. Demonstrated teamwork. Exposure to visual merchandising and product placement techniques is desired.
Required Education/Certification: High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience. Forklift certification is preferred, not required.
Other Requirements: Must be able to work the majority of shift standing. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds frequently and participate in store merchandise resets.
