Job Summary

The Rooms Controller will work in partnership with Revenue Management, Front Desk, and other operational departments, focusing on managing the hotel’s room inventory to maximize both revenue and service quality for guests. This is a full-time position and requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evening hours.


  

JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:

  • Ensure the hotel is set up for success by appropriately blocking guestrooms and balancing room types to enhance revenue opportunities and deliver GPS (Guest Satisfaction Scores).
  • Block VIPs and identified members into upgraded room types, while allocating the correct number of rooms to be reserved for upgrades performed by the Front Desk that generate revenue.
  • Manage the inventory of Out of Order and Out of Service rooms, coordinating with departments such as Housekeeping, Engineering, and Front Desk, while keeping the Revenue Management team updated.
  • Actively participate in Group Strategy meetings to ensure group inventory is properly managed, down to the room type level.
  • Ensure inventory across Property Management System, Revenue Management System, and Central Reservations System is in balance, and take corrective action in the event of discrepancies.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Typically requires a high school diploma and 2 to 4 years of experience.
  • Performs work under general supervision.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems, referring more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Possesses solid working knowledge of the subject matter.
  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
