The Staff Accountant is responsible for general accounting duties such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and reporting.

  • Manage accounts payable, including vendor and bank setup, invoice entry, and payment processing
  • Prepare and file 1099 reports in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Perform credit card reconciliations to ensure accurate expense tracking
  • Process and reconcile freight expenses and related allocations
  • Prepare monthly expense allocations and accrual entries
  • Manage accounts receivable, including check deposits, payment application, aging review, and refunds
  • Process and reconcile ecommerce payments and refunds, ensuring accuracy across platforms
  • Assist with monthly budget-to-actual reporting
  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure adherence to accounting policies and timely resolution of questions
  • Work effectively with cross-functional departments (operations, sales, warehouse, customer service) to support accurate financial information and smooth workflows
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned
  • Communicate with coworkers, management, vendors, and customers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Respond promptly and courteously to inquiries from vendors, internal departments, and customers related to AP, AR, and billing
  • Adhere to accounting policies, internal controls, company procedures, confidentiality rules, and regulatory requirements
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks, follows through to completion, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve processes

Requirements

Competencies

  • Ability to process financial data with a high level of precision, attention to detail, and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities through organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and reconcile accounts effectively with analytical thinking
  • Familiarity with ERP and accounting systems, and payment/merchant platforms (ecommerce tools, credit card systems) 
  • Advanced skills utilizing Microsoft Excel, including v-lookups and pivot tables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues using problem solving skills 
  • Ability to take initiative and accountability 
  • Focus on teamwork and collaboration

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 2-3 years of accounts payable or receivable experience
  • Microsoft Business Central experience preferred, but not necessary
