St. John’s Surgery Center, an affiliate of Eye Health America, is a growing, multi-specialty ophthalmology practice. Our focus is on excellence in patient care and creating an exceptional customer/patient experience. This individual is responsible for assisting the surgeon and nurse in rendering professional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures within the center in accordance with established procedures. *Overtime may be required.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists in preparing the operating room for the planned procedure.
  • Assists with maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies.
  • Sets up sterile operating field with instruments and supplies necessary for that procedure; arranges instruments, sutures, drapes, and supplies per AORN standards.
  • Observes strict aseptic technique throughout the entire procedure and report break-in technique to the circulating nurse and the surgeon.
  • Passes instruments, supplies, and sutures to the surgeon and assistants as needed and in such a manner so that their attention is not diverted from the operative field.
  • Sees that all instruments, needles, sponges, and other supplies are removed from the operative field.

Requirements

  • One or more years of related work experience in the operating room is required.
  • Certification is a plus!
