THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Liability Specialist you will be responsible for providing proactive support and guidance relating to the assessment of liability, investigations and the determination of claims. This role operates in a customer-focused environment, with an emphasis on the proactive management of claims.

You’ll draw on your broad experience across various facets of workers compensation  and deliver creative, strategic advice in line with Victorian workers compensation legislation and WorkSafe Victoria guidelines.

This will be a full time,12 month contract position based in the Melbourne office, with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess all aspects of liability on your allocated claims pursuant to legislation, guidelines and authorised limits
  • Meet required time frames and keep all key stakeholders informed of progress
  • Proactively manage claim determinations for complex claims, ensuring clear documentation of actions throughout the determination process
  • Maintain accuracy of claim determination data in Worksafes and EML’s systems

ABOUT YOU

  • Previous experience handling claims liability decisions and/or a background in worker’s compensation would be advantageous
  • High level of resilience and a willingness to hold complex conversations  
  • High attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Effectively listen and understand the needs of the customer
