Principal Engineer

How you’ll be impactful:
We are looking for a Principal Engineer (AI Companions/Full-stack) to help build and scale intelligent agents providing always-on guidance, clarity, and relief. You will be the primary lead in architecting, launching, and iterating on AI Companions reaching millions of users across all our platforms. Please note: This role will require being in our SF office at least 3 days per week (Tuesday-Thursday).

What you’ll be doing:

• Scale high-agency, interactive AI experiences across web and mobile that provide empathetic, real-time guidance to millions of users during their most critical moments.
• Develop user-friendly interfaces capable of supporting millions of concurrent interactions on multiple platforms and product surfaces.
• Design and scale data pipelines and AI systems that can be leveraged across our various brands, ensuring that innovations in one area can be replicated across our brand ecosystem.
• Collaborate closely with the product-design, data, and infra teams to translate visionary concepts into tangible user experiences and product interfaces.
• Engineer high-trust, resilient payment architectures and subscription lifecycles that guarantee seamless financial flows and a frictionless user experience.
• Prototype quickly, fail fast, and double down on what works. You’ll own the technical roadmap from 0 to 1.

Who you are:

• You don’t need a 50-page PRD to start building. Preferably have early-stage startup experience.
• You take pride in the products you build and seek high-impact.
• Demonstrated experience with building features and experiences for consumer products
• Passionate about the pixels, an exceptional eye for detail, and a focus on craft and polish
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced development environment and deliver timely results.

What you’ll need to be successful:

• 8+ years of relevant professional experience
• Architected high-concurrency React and Node.js applications with a focus on reusable design systems and stable, version-controlled API contracts.
• Experience in MongoDB/Postgresql management, including query optimization and schema evolution without production downtime.
• Experience in Azure OpenAI and RAG patterns while managing production constraints like latency, costs, and vector databases. Bonus if you have hands-on experience building production level AI experiences or AI chatbot.

Pay Transparency:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $190,000-$220,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
