Do you want to be paid to be out in the sun all summer? Come and make a splash in a role where safety, teamwork, and community fun come together! As a Lifeguard at the Alfond Municipal Pool complex, you’ll be on the front lines of creating a safe, energetic, and welcoming environment for swimmers of all ages. You’ll help keep the pool running smoothly through active surveillance. This is a dynamic, hands-on position perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced setting, enjoys working with people, and is ready to respond with confidence, care, and a positive attitude—rain or shine, whistle in hand. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide high quality surveillance of assigned pool area. 
  • Keep accurate counts of zone quality to provide full and adequate zone coverage. 
  • When needed test and record pool tests.
  • Maintain observation and tidiness of bathroom spaces as well as general pool areas. 
  • Recommend needed supplies and equipment necessary for maintenance and safety standards to be met for proper functioning of pool area.
  • Assist Pool Managers and Directors in implementing, promoting, and publicizing all aquatics programs and activities.

Requirements

 KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Certified in Lifeguarding, CPR, AED, & First Aid through an accredited program (American Red Cross, YMCA Lifeguard, Etc.); Certification in Waterfront Lifeguarding or willingness to become certified strongly preferred.    

EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to work with diverse types of people in various settings. 
  • Experience dealing with high stress situations and conflict resolution 

 SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to recognize emergencies and respond appropriately, including incidents in the water and on land.
  • Ability to interact with the general public and staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrate internal and external customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well with various personalities
  • Ability to teach through demonstration

WORK SCEHDULE: Varied hours including days, evenings & weekends.
