As the Lifeguard Supervisor at the Alfond Outdoor Municipal Pool aquatics complex, you’ll play a key role in keeping the pool running safely, smoothly, and efficiently. This position goes beyond the stand—you’ll mentor and oversee lifeguard staff, support front desk operations, and help foster a positive, inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide oversight of the lifeguards at the Alfond Outdoor Municipal Pool aquatics complex. Ensure that adequate training has been provided to all front desk employees to maintain efficient operations as well as creating a safe and inclusive work environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and manage the schedule for all Lifeguard employees in a timely manner while ensuring the facility is adequately staffed, without being overstaffed.
- Ability to lead coworkers by example, demonstrating respect and accountability.
- Assist Aquatics Director in functions of pool operation such as routine maintenance and cleaning, chemical management, and backwashing.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment necessary to meet State of Maine and Federal safety and inspection standards of pool operation.
- Conduct lifeguard staff audits at least once a week (rotating on selected employee) to ensure staff is adhering to all safety guidelines and responsibilities as an AYCC lifeguard.
- Assist Front Desk Managers in management of inventory of concessions daily, by ensuring inventory tracking is being completed by employees, and communicate with supervisor when supplies are low.
- Conduct Weekly/Bi-weekly staff in-service training with the assistance of directors
- Manage inventory of facility and office supplies (paper products, wrist bands, etc.) and communicate with supervisor in a timely manner to order supplies before supplies run out.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well with various personalities.
- Ability to teach and lead through demonstration, teaching to all different styles of learning to promote and maintain an inclusive work environment.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Certified in Lifesaving, CPR, and First Aid. Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred
- Lifeguard Instructor Certification Preferred
- Certified Pool Operator Certification Preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
- At least 2 years of customer service experience is required.
- Experience managing staff and/or teams is preferred.
WORK SCEHDULE: Seasonal position. Various hours including days, evenings, & weekends.
