Job Title: Service Engineer, Engines (Level 1–3)

Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Salary Range: $25.00 - $42.00 per hour (based on level of skills and experience)
Travel: Field Position – field service and customer site visits, up to 85%


About the Role

The Service Engineer, Engines is a highly skilled technical professional responsible for executing and supporting maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities on company-supported engine systems and equipment. This role requires a strong commitment to technical mastery, precision, and structured execution, whether working independently or as part of a team in field or shop environments.


This position is ideal for individuals who are driven to understand systems deeply, analyze data independently, and deliver work to exacting standards—even in high-pressure, fast-changing environments. The role is structured across three levels (Level 1–3), allowing for progression as technical capability, judgment, and leadership responsibility increase.


Core Responsibilities (All Levels)

  • Perform in-house and field service work, including installation, troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of supported engine systems
  • Execute work in accordance with established processes, procedures, and quality standards
  • Apply strong attention to detail and technical accuracy in all service activities
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures through systematic analysis and data-driven troubleshooting
  • Replace, document, and verify parts and repairs to ensure reliable outcomes
  • Support Technical Assistance Group (TAG), training efforts, and system-level testing as required
  • Maintain professionalism and composure while working under changing priorities, deadlines, and service demands

Progressive Responsibilities by Level

Level 1 – Developing Service Engineer

  • Perform assigned service tasks under close supervision within defined guidelines
  • Build foundational knowledge of engine components and system-level functionality
  • Assist with structured fault-finding and basic troubleshooting activities
  • Support customers and internal teams with basic technical guidance, including low-level controls support
  • Demonstrate a disciplined approach to learning, documentation, and task execution

Level 2 – Intermediate Service Engineer

(Includes all Level 1 responsibilities, plus the following)

  • Perform independent electrical and mechanical fault-finding
  • Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics with accuracy
  • Install and commission standard control and actuation systems
  • Deliver basic to intermediate technical instruction to customers and colleagues
  • Apply experience and judgment to plan work while maintaining adherence to structured processes
  • Balance efficiency with precision in a dynamic service environment

Level 3 – Senior / Lead Service Engineer

(Includes all Level 1 and 2 responsibilities, plus the following)

  • Perform advanced diagnostics on complex engine, control, and system integrations
  • Interpret and develop detailed control system diagrams
  • Install and commission controls, small systems, and integrated actuation packages
  • Serve as a technical authority, mentoring junior engineers and reinforcing best practices
  • Provide high-level TAG support, recommending optimal technical solutions aligned with customer requirements
  • Support in-house system testing and lead technically complex service activities
  • Plan, prioritize, and direct work based on experience, technical judgment, and operational demands

Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical expertise with a methodical problem-solving approach
  • High degree of attention to detail, accuracy, and technical discipline
  • Ability to independently analyze data, systems, and technical information
  • Comfort working under pressure with shifting priorities and service demands
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and customer interaction
  • Mental stamina to maintain focus and precision amid frequent interactions and disruptions

Education & Experience Requirements

Level 1

  • Recognized electrical or mechanical certificate from a trade school or military training institution or
  • Associate Degree in a related technical field
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience

Level 2

  • 2–4 years of relevant field experience
  • Trade school or military technical certification or
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree with applicable experience

Level 3

  • 4–6 years of relevant experience
  • Trade school or military technical certification or
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree with 2–4 years of applicable experience

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Prolonged standing, kneeling, stooping, and work in confined or industrial spaces
  • Frequent physical movement including twisting and reaching
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Capacity to maintain focus and technical accuracy during long or demanding workdays
