About the Job:

The Development Associate is responsible for supporting the development team with a particular focus on data entry and event registration. The Development Associate reports to the Development Director with day-to-day tasks overseen by other team members. 


About MountainStar Family Relief Nursery:

MountainStar Family Relief Nursery (MountainStar) is a local non-profit that has been in Central Oregon for 25 years. We are a strength-based child abuse and neglect prevention program to support families with children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. We provide high quality trauma-informed care and services for children and families experiencing high stress. Services include a therapeutic classroom emphasizing social-emotional development, home visits, parenting classes and other wrap around services.

About the Role: 

Data Management (60%)

  • Record all donations and donor info, manage coding/processing/acknowledgements.
  • Maintain accurate records, follow data entry protocol, perform database maintenance.
  • Track donors, volunteers, stakeholders, event attendees, and new member engagement.
  • Monitoring constituent updates between CRM and communication platforms.
  • Assist the Philanthropy Manager as needed to support donor relations. 

Communication, Events, & Outreach (30%)

  • Assist with event logistics, maintain guest lists/invites, prepare materials, day-of implementation.
  • Consolidate and finalize all registration lists for event days to ensure accuracy and efficiency. 
  • Prepare any other guest focused details as it pertains to table assignments and bid numbers.
  • Manage all final data entries post events to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist with identifying and soliciting in-kind donations and event sponsors.
  • Update and prepare mailing lists, coordinate production and mailing of time-sensitive projects.
  • Coordinate with the Development Director and Events & Marketing Manager to ensure all communications/materials are consistent with organization-wide communication strategies.
  • Assist the Events & Marketing Manager as needed.

Other (10%):

  • Support post event documentation and guest acknowledgments.
  • Support development team in thank you calls to event guests, sponsors, and in-kind donors. 
  • Manage letterhead and collateral inventory and maintain adequate supplies to support donor relations and special events and outreach activities across all sites

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Commitment to offering non-judgmental help to vulnerable children and their families.
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant skills
  • Extensive computer experience, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, donor database
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to positively engage donors through email, phone, in-person; handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, tracking of various projects and meeting established deadlines.

  • Experience working with a donor database (preferably Bloomerang)
  • Experience supporting event planning and execution
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Energetic and forward-looking thinker who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.
  • Consistent attendance is essential for both the smooth operation of our programs as well as fostering a sense of stability for the children and families we serve.

Physical Demands, Background, Driving and Training Requirements:

  • Ability to lift to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation to support outreach and special events.
  • Clean driving record to drive company vehicles. 

Schedule Expectations:

This is a 20-hour per week, non-exempt position. Possibility of increased hours in the future. All positions at MountainStar Family Relief Nursery are contingent upon the availability of funding.
