About the Role

Description

HCMP is seeking a full-time legal assistant to support our transactional practices, primarily in the areas of land use and real estate. Candidates must be reliable and able to work as a part of a team; possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills; be able to work independently, exercise good judgment in prioritizing and managing multiple projects efficiently and with accuracy; and take pride in consistently delivering the highest quality work product. 


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Properly formatting, editing, comparing, proofreading, and finalizing documents and correspondence
  • Completing conflicts checks, drafting and finalizing engagement letters, and opening new matters
  • Saving matter diligence and maintaining and updating client files (physical and electronic) in compliance with firm policies
  • Preparing closing binders
  • Managing attorneys’ calendars, including scheduling meetings, tracking tasks and deadlines, and following up on outstanding matters
  • Assisting attorneys with billing review; monitoring outstanding receivables and following up with clients as needed
  • Submitting and tracking expense reimbursements, registering attorneys for CLEs and tracking completion, booking travel arrangements
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Prior substantive working experience in a transactional practice support role, ideally in land use and/or real estate  
  • Excellent word-processing and complex document formatting skills
  • Strong proofreading skills; attention to detail and accuracy is a must
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and communication skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (especially Word, Excel and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Proficiency in document management and timekeeping systems; experience with ProLaw is a plus
  • Ability to work effectively within tight deadlines


Compensation, Hybrid Work & Other Benefits

The estimated salary range for this role is $70,000-$110,000, depending on experience and qualifications, with bonus-earning potential and is based on the desired experience range at the time of this posting. This position is eligible for hybrid work. We strongly encourage a minimum of one day per week worked in our office, preferably Tuesdays. Business needs may necessitate different or additional in-office days beyond our policy. Our hybrid work policies are subject to change depending on firm and practice needs.
