Work Schedule: Standard business hours; weekend on-call rotation required
Role Summary
This is a standalone Senior IT Engineer role focused on supporting and improving our on-premises infrastructure environment in the United States.
The role requires a broad, hands-on skill set across networking (including wireless), systems, security, storage, and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI / cloud desktop).
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux server environments
- Manage and support enterprise network infrastructure, including:
- Routing and switching
- VLANs, firewall rules, and VPN connectivity
- Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) design, deployment, and troubleshooting
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise Wi-Fi networks, including:
- Access point provisioning and controller configuration
- SSID design, security (WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X), roaming optimization
- RF tuning, channel planning, and interference troubleshooting
- Operate and maintain virtualization platforms, including:
- VMware vSphere
- Hyper-V
- Proxmox VE
- Design, deploy, and support Virtual Desktop / Cloud Desktop (VDI) environments, including:
- Desktop pools and image management
- User profile and session management
- Performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Administer and troubleshoot enterprise storage systems, including:
- SAN / NAS / DAS
- RAID, LUNs, volumes, snapshots
- iSCSI, NFS, SMB
- Perform storage performance analysis and capacity planning
- Implement and maintain system and infrastructure security controls:
- OS hardening
- Patch and vulnerability management
- Access control and audit practices
- Participate in monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery (DR) planning and operations
- Create and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks
- Participate in weekend on-call rotation to respond to infrastructure incidents
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure / systems engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Windows Server and Linux
- Enterprise networking, including wired and wireless networks
- Practical experience with enterprise Wi-Fi solutions, such as:
- Ubiquiti UniFi
- Aruba Networks
- Solid experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox VE)
- Experience with Virtual Desktop / Cloud Desktop (VDI) solutions, such as:
- VMware Horizon
- Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops
- Microsoft RDS / similar VDI platforms
- Good knowledge of enterprise storage technologies:
- SAN / NAS / DAS
- RAID concepts, snapshots, replication
- Storage performance troubleshooting (IO latency, throughput)
- Good understanding of system and infrastructure security best practices
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
Nice to Have
- VDI performance optimization and large-scale desktop deployment experience
- Wireless site survey or RF optimization experience
- Experience with backup and DR solutions (e.g., Veeam)
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging platforms
- Experience in multi-site or campus environments
- Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Bash)
- Relevant infrastructure, network, or security certifications
