Position Summary:

Courtney Place Veterans Housing is seeking a full-time Peer Support Specialist to provide direct peer support services while managing a defined program portfolio focused on essential household goods access for low-income veterans. This position combines veteran engagement, resource navigation, and program operations with a strong emphasis on logistics, inventory control, and donor-partner coordination. The role requires the ability to independently manage program operations and work effectively with large-scale corporate and community partners. Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.

This position is grant funded. Continued employment beyond the current funding period is contingent upon the availability of additional funding for 2027.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Provide peer support to veterans; assess needs, offer guidance, and connect individuals to appropriate veteran and community resources.
  •  Maintain operational ownership of a defined program portfolio that includes coordination of essential household goods access for veterans.
  •  Lead inventory management and logistics operations, including inventory tracking, storage organization, distribution, and replenishment planning.
  • Proactively coordinate relationships with donor partners, including large retail and department store chains; request and secure product donations aligned with program needs.
  • Drive organizational vehicles or personal vehicles, as approved, to pick up, transport, load, and unload donated goods from donor partners and community sources.
  •  Schedule, receive, document, and safely store donated goods in accordance with organizational standards.
  •  Verify veteran eligibility in coordination with partner agencies when required.
  •  Maintain strong familiarity with local, state, and federal veteran resources and provide referrals for benefits, healthcare, employment, and documentation assistance.
  •  Maintain accurate service, inventory, and donation records to support internal tracking and grant reporting.
  • Collaborate with Courtney Place staff to ensure program activities align with organizational standards and veteran-centered practices.

Qualifications:

  •  Veteran status preferred.
  •  Experience in peer support, social services, case management, or a related field required.
  •  Demonstrated logistics or operations experience, including inventory tracking and supply coordination.
  • Experience working with large donor partners, corporate contributors, or retail organizations strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with local veteran and community resources.
  •  Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required; regular driving for donor pickups, transportation of goods, and program logistics is an essential function of this role.
  •  Ability to lift, move, and organize household goods and supplies.
  • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and ability to work independently.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills.

Compensation:

  • Commensurate with experience; full-time, non-exempt position.

Work Environment:

This role involves direct veteran engagement, frequent driving for donor pickups and logistics, coordination with large donor partners, and hands-on program operations. Reliability, professionalism, and sound judgment are essential.
