About the Role

Description

URM Stores, Inc. is currently looking for someone who actually likes digging into numbers and catching mistakes before they become problems? We’re looking for an Accounting & Payroll Clerk with solid accounting experience to help keep our payroll processes accurate and running smoothly.


This role will lean more into accounting than payroll, so if GLs, reconciliations, and staring at numbers all day make you happy — you’ll fit right in.

This position requires 100% on-site presence; no remote work will be allowed.


Your Day-to-Day:

  • Make sense of four union contracts to ensure everyone is paid accurately and on time.
  • Own the full payroll process: new hires, pay changes, benefits, taxes, garnishments, and timecard fixes.
  • Review time sheets and partner with managers to resolve discrepancies (problem-solving required!).
  • Team up with accounting to reconcile payroll accounts and dig into GLs to ensure everything is coded correctly and flowing where it should.
  • Be ready to step in and keep payroll running smoothly for 750+ employees across multiple states when needed.
  • Perform regular payroll audits and reconciliations to keep data clean, accurate, and compliant.

Education & Experience:

  • AA Degree in Accounting, or an Accredited Certificate Program in Accounting and or, equivalent experience strongly preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in an Accounting and or Payroll position required.
  • Proficient experience with Payroll software or other SAAS HRIS platforms required.
  • Experience with Paylocity HRIS a plus!
  • CPP or FPC Payroll certifications are a plus. 
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting and proven experience auditing GL codes
  • Union experience a plus!
