About the Role
Our Utilities division has an exciting opportunity for a Crew Member to join the Gas operations in Clayton. The primary purpose of the position is to ensure work is completed to Service Stream, client and legislative requirements, to meet or better KPI’s through continuous improvement and good work practices.
Nature of position: Permanent, Full-Time
Location: Clayton, VIC
Reporting Line: O&M Manager
Key Responsibilities
Perform field construction and maintenance work on gas mains and services, including:
Excavation and trenching using hand tools or machinery
Pipe laying, jointing, wrapping, and installation of valves and fittings
Assisting with under-pressure drilling, tapping, and live gas connections
Backfilling, compaction, and site reinstatement
Operate and maintain tools, plant, and equipment in a safe and effective manner
Follow all safety procedures and use correct PPE at all times
Carry out work under direction according to plans, drawings, and job instructions
Assist with pressure testing and purging of mains and services
Support site clean-up and restoration, including lawns, footpaths, and roadways
Complete documentation such as time sheets, job reports, and basic field notes
Maintain a professional attitude and support positive relationships with customers, contractors, and the public
Ensure proper care, use, and security of company tools, equipment, and vehicles
Respond to after-hours callouts and participate in on-call rosters if required.
About You
Preferably have at least five (5) years’ experience in duties associated with Team Members
Experience operating mechanical equipment
Completed a Mains and Services Certificate 3 or equivalent (desirable)
HR or MR Truck license
Ability to plan and organise work to ensure quality and out-put of work is achieved in accordance with standards set
Ability to liaise and communicate with people
Ability to promote good public relations
