MG-IP Law, P.C. (Muncy, Geissler, Olds & Lowe, P.C.) is seeking a part-time IP Assistant to support our growing patent practice.
Position Overview
The IP Assistant will provide comprehensive support for U.S. patent prosecution from filing through allowance. Responsibilities include docketing, billing, client correspondence, status checks, and preparing and filing documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and file a wide range of USPTO documents, including:
- New utility, design, provisional, and plant applications
- ADS forms (original and supplemental)
- Assignment recordations and related ownership documents
- Declarations, powers of attorney, and chain-of-title forms
- IDS submissions (including obtaining references and preparing forms)
- Priority documents, preliminary amendments, and English translations
- Responses to pre-examination notices (Missing Parts, Correct Application Papers, Notices to Comply, etc.)
- Requests for corrected Filing Receipts, corrective assignments, and certificates of correction
- Responses to Office Actions, terminal disclaimers, extensions of time, RCEs, CPAs, AFCP requests
- Appeals (Notices of Appeal, appeal briefs, reply briefs)
- Maintenance fee payments
- Various petitions and other filings as needed
- Proofread and format documents prepared by attorneys, agents, and technical staff.
- Maintain compliance with USPTO rules, MG-IP procedures, and internal deadlines.
- Perform additional administrative and project-based tasks as assigned.

Requirements
Applicants must possess the following skills:
- 2 years of general IP experience.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Strong organizational and writing skills.
- Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume environment.
- Sufficiently computer literate and capable in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet Explorer. Microsoft Excel is a plus.
- Must be able to lift/carry at least 20 lbs.
Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED certificate. A college degree is a plus.
Training will be provided for PerfectLaw, EFS, EPAS, CTS, and other programs used by our office.
