About the Role

Description

Responsible for generating and managing a portfolio of commercial loans; implementing strategies to achieve Bank and department goals; complying with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements; communicating with appropriate internal and external personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing periodic reports.


Basic Qualifications


Education/Training:  A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field normally required; specialized banking education and credit training preferred.


Skill(s):  Proficient reading, writing and mathematical skills; thorough knowledge of current lending regulations; proficient interpersonal and communicative skills; moderate PC skills; a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank commercial products and services; a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures which impact mortgage loan and consumer credit loan services; valid driver's license.


Experience:  A minimum of five (5) years' experience in related positions normally required.   Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting preferred.   Ability to understand business financial data, balance sheet and cash flow analysis.   Ability to develop customized solutions for business clients, while maintaining a relationship-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to customer service.  Strong knowledge of loan documentation and banking government regulations.  Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.


Requirements

Essential Duties


• Responsible for the acquisition, retention and expansion of new and existing clients.

• Determine credit eligibility by analyzing financial statements, cash flow, collateral, and credit risk to ensure sound lending decisions.  Structure, underwrite and present credit requests, including commercial mortgages, term loans, lines of credit, equipment financing and cash management related solutions.

• Negotiates terms of credit including pricing, repayment method and schedule, and collateral requirements.

• Manage portfolio within established lending criteria, including covenant compliance, renewals and risk ratings, and maximize profitability to the bank.  

• Develop on-going business development plan that garners new business for the bank by proactively identifying, soliciting, and originating new commercial lending opportunities through networking, referrals and community involvement.

• Monitor loan repayment activity and develop plan of action for any troubled credits.

• Responsible for originating new business, structuring credit solutions and maintaining strong relationships with business clients while ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements. 

• Oversees proper handling of customer transactions such as advances, payments, wire transfers, etc.

• Represent the bank through participation in local business organizations and community events.


Ancillary Duties


1. Represent the Bank in the community through active involvement in charitable and civic groups.


2. May attend sales and trade meetings as a Bank representative to develop new business and networking relationships.


3. Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.


4. Physical Requirements

Required to stand, walk and sit; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds.
