About the Role

Description

General Position Description: Performs advanced accounting duties. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and audits GL accounts and completes account reconciliations. Reviews balance sheets and income statements to detect and correct any inaccuracies. Creates journal entries and adjusting entries to post to the GL. Researches accounting transactions and applies corrections to any discrepancies.
  • Assists with the preparation of the monthly and yearly financial reports to be to be presented to the leadership team. 
  • Assists in preparing reports for external stakeholders, funders, and others as needed.
  • Serves as the program liaison to an assigned program. 
  • Reviews Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, corrects GL coding, and program allocations.
  • Assists with entering revenue and processing receivable payments as needed. 
  • Supports processing accounts payable invoices and accounts receivables as needed. 
  • Assists in developing and maintaining accounting policies and standard operating procedures.  
  • Assists in preparing for financial and program audits to include but not limited to the single audit for federal funds.
  • Assists in ensuring a timely monthly, yearly, period fiscal closing.
  • Provide a broad range of administrative functions. Participates in the process of ongoing professional development and meetings. Maintains comprehensive communication among all contacts within the agency, members, and external agencies. Models professional standards and ethics in accordance with EBF Code of Conduct, Strategic Plan, Mission, and Vision. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 5 years of progressive, high level accounting experience required. Microsoft Great Plain (GP) and Not-for-profit experience strongly preferred. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. 

Regulatory 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age. 
  • Current, unrestricted AZ driver’s license with no more than two (2) minor moving violations or one (1) accident within the past three (3 years). Three (3) years of driving experience required. 
  • Transportation to attend trainings and perform other work-related activities. Organizational vehicles may not be available at all times. 
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check prior to employment and regular checks for the duration of the employment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card (employer provides).

Skills/Job Knowledge/Abilities: Knowledge of accounting cycle. High level of working knowledge of Excel. Able to establish and maintain a team atmosphere of communication and collaboration for all that reach out to the Department. Must be self-directed, be sensitive to cultural, and linguistic diversity. Excellent customer service in stressful situations. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of finance policies, practices, and procedures. Proficient knowledge of FASB and (US) GAAP.  Possess a high level of computer proficiency. 


Working Conditions/Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation): Normal office environment with multiple interruptions in person and through computer and phone. May lift normal office equipment and materials up to 25lbs. Visual acuity to read information from computer screens and forms. Able to speak clearly in conversations and general communications. Hearing ability for communication in persona, phone, and/or other electronic methods. Manual dexterity for typing and writing. Able to stoop, squat, reach, pull, push, stretch, ascend and descend stairs, stand and sit for long periods of time. May be required to work additional hours or days depending on circumstances.
