Description

Material Handlers perform basic material handling duties in a warehouse environment. Responsibilities range from checking-in deliveries and preparing outbound freight to quality assurance and general warehouse upkeep. Material Handler IIs also perform more specialized logistics tasks using warehouse machinery and software.

The starting pay for this position is expected to be $24 hour. Exact compensation is based on skills, experience, education, and location.


Material Handler II Job Duties

  • Signs for carrier deliveries, confirms BOL against physical delivery, notates any discrepancies, and assists with unloading trucks when necessary.
  • Receives inventory goods into the warehouse while adhering to established processes, matches incoming freight to the packing lists and/ or manifests, transacts inventory into warehouse management system (WMS).
  • Conducts inventory put-away, direct and/or indirect, transfers case or pallet ID in warehouse management system by scanning label against physical storage location.
  • Assist with daily cycle counts as required.
  • Assist with cleaning and straightening assigned warehouse aisles in compliance with 5S program.
  • Maintains inventory storage locations and audits physical bin accuracy within WMS.
  • Performs order fulfillment by picking product and staging on dock for auditing and labeling.
  • Performs quality inspection by validating items pulled against pick list, labels and palletizes and/or packages item for shipping.
  • Tenders freight to assigned carriers and monitors loading of material onto truck, may load trucks at times.
  • Assists in the maintenance of forklifts, order pickers, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned. 


Requirements

  • Basic use of computer systems and applications (SAP, HIGHJUMP) as trained/required.  
  • Able to use warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks.
  • Must be forklift certified or obtain certification with the first 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of common safety and security measures to ensure warehouse/ team safety and compliance with OSHA and other regulations.
  • Shows up on time, follows instructions, acknowledges and corrects mistakes.
  • Meets the needs of customers through positive interactions.
  • Able to communicate effectively and collaborate with team members to achieve common goals.
  • Able to receive work instruction in both written and oral formats. Written and verbal communication is completed in a clear and organized manner.
  • Seeks and incorporates feedback. Uses good judgment and solves problems within assigned scope of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and efficiency; is detail oriented and conducts work with minimal errors. Meets productivity goals set by management.


Education and Experience

High School Diploma and 1 year of experience in a warehouse/ freight role or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Physical Requirements

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s essential functions require the following physical demands: carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, crouching, significant finger dexterity, and some climbing. Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 35 pounds. The job is performed in a warehouse setting with temperature variations and requires the use of safety shoes and high visibility clothing.
