Ritter Center is currently recruiting an Assistant Community Market Manager. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Pantry & Facilities Manager based in San Rafael, CA, and is based at our main Campus.

Position Description:
The Assistant Community Market Manager provides administrative, operational, and client-facing
support to ensure smooth and exceptional market service. This role oversees day-to-day
market operations; maintains inventory; coordinates client intake and communications;
trains and manages market volunteers; develops and maintains community partnerships;
ensures data accuracy and compliance; oversees implementation of client events.
Coordinating all aspects of food and in-kind donations is key for this role, including in-take,
handling, storage and distribution with professionalism and compassion. The position is
central to delivering dignified, timely service to clients, volunteers, donors, and visitors while
upholding Ritter Center’s goals, objectives, and policies.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Client Services
- Greet everyone in a welcoming, professional manner.
- Provide information and referrals to all; act as a liaison for clients seeking services from other Ritter teams.
- Coordinate the client intake process and related communications.
- Manage multiple priorities and support clients with complex and sometimes disruptive behaviors using calm, professional, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Provide English/Spanish translation services for clients as needed, if bilingual.
- Accept appropriate in-kind donations and issue donor receipts; educate donors on current acceptance guidelines and partnerships (e.g., clothing donations via Goodwill Industries).
- Coordinate and host annual client events in partnership with Development and Marketing teams to support service delivery and community engagement.
Market Oversight
- Manage daily market operations, including opening and closing procedures to ensure
- cleanliness, safety, security, and organization.
- Unload/process shipments; monitor inventory levels; place orders; track deliveries; and maintain consistent stock availability.
- Coordinate with vendors for market-related services and promptly resolve issues.
- Implement and maintain market standards aligned with organizational policies and sustainability goals.
- Monitor volunteer shifts to ensure smooth service delivery and appropriate coverage.
- Respond to client inquiries related to market services and special programs.
Data, Reporting & Records
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation, including new accounts, volunteer records, client logs for special programs, and other clerical activities to support smooth coordination of services.
- Update the client database with current information, review records for accuracy, and completeness.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting for:
- Food Bank daily recipients
- Volunteer hours
- In-kind donation receipts
- Market-related grant reporting
- Credit card reporting
Administrative Support
- Monitor and respond to daily calls, messages, and emails in a timely fashion.
- Support market-related initiatives and improvements as directed by their supervisor.
- Meet regularly with supervisor; attend staff meetings and scheduled trainings.
- Adhere to Ritter Center’s goals, objectives, and personnel policies; perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Per OSHA requirements, employment at Ritter Center requires compliance with being able to produce a negative TB test prior to the start of employment, as well as being vaccinated against COVID-19 (unless applying for an exemption) per the August 5th, 2021, State Public Order for Healthcare Facilities, providers and employees.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in market or grocery operations and volunteer management preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customer service orientation.
- Familiarity with marginalized communities preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to complete deliveries, if required (preferred).
- Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred).
