In retail stores, our tubing forms the structure for many of the chrome plated and painted racks, shelving and merchandising islands for an assortment of goods. About the Role

Description

HOURS 

1st shift = 7am-3pm 

2nd shift = 3pm-11pm 

3rd shift = 11pm - 7am 

*Due to Union bumping rights, applicants must have shift flexibility*

2nd shift premium = $1.80/hr

3rd shift premium = $1.25/hr


SUMMARY

Sets up and operates variety of machine tools and fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, machine parts or specifications to determine type and dimensions of parts required.
  • Dismantles machine or equipment to examine parts for defect or to remove defective part.
  • Replaces defective part with new part or repairs defective part.
  • Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction.
  • Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.
  • Sets up and operates the lathes for the manufacture of rolls, shafts, id rolls and miscellaneous parts.
  • Sets up and operates OD grinder used to grind shafts, rolls and miscellaneous parts.
  • Sets up and operates mill machines for the manufacture of turk heads, and miscellaneous parts and equipment.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and material on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders and shapers.
  • Grinds turk heads and weld rolls to specifications, sends out for heat treatment, documents new tooling process.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization. Ability to document procedures and specifications on drawings.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have thorough knowledge/use of: Blueprint reading, milling machines, OD/ID grinders, saw/bench grinders, AC/DC welders, lathes, buffing machines, micrometers, bore micrometers, depth/bore/feeler gauges, and digital readouts.
