Heartline Staffing, Strategic Talent Partners with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 13-week travel assignment in a high-acuity Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) environment in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Shift Details:
- 3x12 Nights (18:45 – 07:15)
- 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirement: Every third weekend
- Call: May be required based on unit workload
- Floating: Required throughout PICU, NICU, Pediatric ED, and Pediatric floor
- Block scheduling is not permitted
Unit Overview:
• 70+ bed NICU
• 10 bed PICU
• 32 bed Pediatric floor
• 14 bed Pediatric ED
• 50–60% of daily cases involve NICU and PICU
• Epic charting system
• Pyxis medication system
• 36 hours of unit orientation

- RTO & Scheduling Policy:
- RTO after booking is not allowed.
- Maximum of 7 days may be auto-approved if not on a holiday.
- No RTO permitted during the first week due to orientation.
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays if applicable.
- Fatigue policy applies (no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week).
Compensation:
W2: $19.00/hr
Total Weekly Stipend: $1,477.00
Gross Weekly Pay: $2,161.00
Requirements
- Licensure: Active North Carolina Respiratory Therapist license or Compact license (must be in hand by start date; pending acceptable for submission).
- Credentials: Active RRT credentials required.
- Certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience required. Experienced traveler preferred; first-time traveler considered only with high-level skillset. PICU and NICU experience required.
- Work settings: Emergency Department, NICU, Pediatric Critical Care, Pediatrics.
- Skills: Airway management, suctioning, ventilator management, neonatal/pediatric equipment proficiency, medication administration (Albuterol, Atrovent, Flovent, Nitric Oxide, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Terbutaline, Tobramycin, Xopenex), ABG interpretation, chest physiotherapy.
- Charting: Epic required.
- Floating: Required throughout pediatric units and floors.
- Call: May be required based on workload.
- Scheduling: 3x12 Nights (18:45–07:15). Every third weekend. No block scheduling.
- RTO/Holidays: RTO after booking not allowed; max 7 days auto-approved (no holidays); no RTO first week; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
- Compliance: Lab work within 48 hours after signing; all testing completed within 48 hours.
- Vaccine policy: Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only).
- Radius rule: Permanent address under 50 miles offered at lower local rate.
