Job Type: Full-Time (Part-Time considered)

About the role

Sylva Valley Health & Rehab is hiring an Activity Director who is high-energy, outgoing, and loves engaging others. This position leads our activities program and helps create a warm, lively environment for residents through meaningful group and 1:1 programming.

Occupational Therapists (OT) or Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) are welcome to apply—especially if you enjoy resident engagement and program leadership.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and lead daily activities (group and individualized) for residents
     
  • Develop a monthly activities calendar that includes evenings/weekends as needed
     
  • Coordinate special events, holidays, and community involvement
     
  • Encourage resident participation and adapt programming for varying abilities
     
  • Lead/coordinate volunteers and support activity assistants (if applicable)
     
  • Document participation and maintain required logs per facility policy/regulations
     
  • Collaborate with nursing/therapy/social services on resident interests and care plans
     
  • Promote a positive, resident-centered culture
     

What we’re looking for

  • Outgoing, positive, and dependable—strong people skills are a must
     
  • Experience in activities, recreation, hospitality, therapy, or long-term care preferred
     
  • Ability to lead groups, communicate clearly, and stay organized
     
  • Comfortable with computers and documentation
     

Education / certification

  • Degree and/or certification preferred (examples: Activity Director Certification, Recreation Therapy, related fields)
     
  • OT/OTA credentials are a plus and welcome (if applicable)
     
  • Equivalent experience considered with strong leadership and energy
