Job Description

We’re looking for a skilled and proactive Clinical Engineering Technician to deliver high-quality medical device management across clinical areas. If you enjoy hands-on technical work, problem solving, and supporting frontline staff, this role offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to make a real difference to patient care.
Why this role matters
You’ll ensure critical devices—ventilators, monitors, incubators, defibrillators and more—are safe, reliable, and ready when clinicians need them. You’ll work across clinical and workshop environments, support urgent requests, and help train staff in safe device use.
Key responsibilities
- Commission, calibrate and maintain a wide range of complex medical devices.
- Diagnose faults using investigation and testing, and communicate findings to users and suppliers.
- Provide user training and demonstrations to clinical staff to improve device safety and effectiveness.
- Keep accurate maintenance records using computerised systems to support audits and quality monitoring.
- Manage parts and consumables, placing orders to maintain serviceability.
- Support instrumentation interfaces with clinical IT systems and liaise with IM&T as needed.

Qualifications
What we’re looking for
- Qualifications: BEng/BSc in electronics or a scientific subject, or HNC/HND working towards a degree.
- Experience: At least 18 months with electronic and electromechanical systems; experience with medical devices and healthcare environments is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong initiative, excellent communication, IT literacy, and the ability to organise your own workload.
- Practical: Full driving licence for van use, physically fit to move and handle equipment; comfortable working around critically unwell patients.
- Desirable: Manufacturer training, membership of a professional institute, or registration with the Register of Clinical Technologists.
