Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Superintendent
Position Overview
EnterSource is seeking an experienced Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Superintendent to lead and oversee multiple HDD operations. This role is responsible for managing 4–5 drilling crews, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate is a strong field leader with deep HDD experience, excellent crew management skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Directly supervise and manage 4–5 HDD crews across multiple job sites
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily drilling operations to meet production goals
- Ensure strict compliance with safety policies, OSHA regulations, and company standards
- Serve as the primary point of contact between crews, project managers, and clients
- Monitor project progress, troubleshoot operational issues, and adjust plans as needed
- Review bore plans, tooling selection, and drilling methods to optimize performance
- Train, mentor, and develop foremen and crew members
- Manage equipment utilization, maintenance coordination, and material needs
- Ensure accurate reporting of production, costs, and job-site documentation
Qualifications
- Minimum 5–10 years of HDD experience, with supervisory or superintendent-level responsibility
- Proven experience managing multiple crews simultaneously
- Strong understanding of HDD equipment, tooling, bore planning, and ground conditions
- Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and job-site compliance
- Ability to read and interpret plans, profiles, and utility locates
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours as project demands require
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred, not required)
Preferred Experience
- Large-diameter or long-bore HDD projects
- Utility installation (fiber, power, gas, water, sewer)
- Experience working with clients, inspectors, and project stakeholders
