About the Role

Description

The Law Clerk provides legal research support, drafts pleadings and motions, prepares deposition summaries, and assists attorneys with trial preparation, all while working a flexible part time schedule that aligns with academic commitments. This role offers a clear growth path, with the potential to transition into a full time clerkship after the bar exam and advance to an associate position upon passing the bar.

  

Primary Job Duties:

· Assist in drafting correspondence to opposing counsel, clients, and courts

· Perform administrative litigation support such as file indexing, organizing evidence, and managing litigation databases

· Review and organize case files, exhibits, and document productions

· Prepare chronologies, case summaries, and timelines to support litigation strategy

· Observe depositions, hearings, mediations, and client meetings, as opportunities arise

· Assist with factual investigations, including reviewing contracts, medical records, and other case materials

· Support attorneys in preparing exhibit lists, witness files, and trial binders

· Compile and analyze discovery responses from opposing parties

· Participate in strategy discussions and team meetings to gain exposure to case development

· Research court rules, procedural requirements, and jurisdiction-specific filing standards

· Help review and summarize expert reports and supporting materials

· Assist with legal project management tasks, including tracking deadlines and organizing case documents

· Collaborate with attorneys to brainstorm arguments, case themes, and strategic approaches

· Conduct cite-checking, reviews, and proofreading of briefs and memorandums

Requirements

 · Currently enrolled as a 3rd year law student at an accredited law school

· Strong legal research and writing skills

· Familiarity with legal terminology, court procedures, and citation formats 

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research platforms 

· Excellent organizational and time management abilities

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

· Professional demeanor and attention to detail
