Intermountain Electronics (IE) delivers dependable and effective critical power and process infrastructure and mission critical systems to virtually every industrial sector in North America. We provide custom-engineered, packaged equipment to industrial markets. We specialize in designing, manufacturing, automating and testing power distribution equipment for OEM, mission critical, oil and gas and mining industries.

Program Overview:
Intermountain Electronics (IE) is offering a paid summer internship program for high school students interested in exploring careers in manufacturing, electrical, mechanical, or industrial fields. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in a professional setting, while learning from experienced mentors in a variety of departments.

This program is designed to introduce students to the workplace, teach basic technical skills, and help identify potential career paths. Interns will work alongside skilled tradespeople and contribute to real projects and operations at IE.


Internship Dates:
June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026
(Approximately 10 weeks)

This is a temporary, non-benefited position. No paid holidays, PTO, or medical benefits are included.


Available Shifts:

  • Dayshift: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Afternoon Shift: Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM
  • Weekend Shift: Friday–Sunday, 5:00 AM – 5:30 PM
    Part-time or alternate shift options may be available depending on department needs.


Available Departments:
Interns will be placed based on their interests and department availability. Departments include:

  • Transformer Department
  • Mechanical Assembly
  • Electrical Technicians
  • Electrical Panel Assembly
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Warehouse / Inventory
  • General Production
  • Quality Control (Electrical)


Requirements

Examples of Responsibilities:

  • Assist technicians and team members with hands-on tasks
  • Assemble or inspect mechanical and electrical components
  • Organize and maintain tools, parts, and workstations
  • Learn and follow proper safety procedures
  • Participate in team meetings and improvement activities
  • Support production, quality, and warehouse functions as needed

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old by June 1, 2026
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must wear safety toe shoes (steel or composite, required for most departments)

  • All selected candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening as part of the hiring process.
