Stepping into the Lead Echocardiographer position offers the opportunity to shape a high‑performing cardiac diagnostics team while advancing the quality of patient care. **This position is eligible for a Sign-On Bonus of up to $10,000**
Responsibilities:
Troubleshoots imaging equipment and workflow issues and coordinates maintenance and repairs with BioTronics.
Performs high‑quality diagnostic ultrasound exams consistent with Level I and Level II advanced sonographer standards.
Oversees quality assurance initiatives and contributes to developing and refining exam protocols.
Leads accreditation activities and ensures compliance with departmental and industry standards.
Provides orientation, training, and competency oversight for new hires, students, and medical personnel.
Offers performance coaching and remediation for sonographers when needed.
Participates in recruitment efforts, including interviewing candidates and providing input for performance evaluations.
Assumes departmental leadership responsibilities in the supervisor’s absence.
Manages daily workflow and scheduling to maintain appropriate staffing levels based on patient volume and operational needs.
Collaborates with system partners to advance quality, stay current with best practices, and support continuous improvement.
Schedule: This position will work 8-shifts, rotating days Sunday-Saturday. The rotating shifts can be: 7AM-3:30PM, 7:45AM-4:15PM, or 9:30 AM-6 PM. This position will require you to work on-call and be able to report to work within 60 minutes. This position will require occasional travel to our Peters Township offices and UPMC Greene.
- Completion of formal training in an accredited ultrasound program or professional equivalent required.
- 3 years of ultrasound experience required.
- Performance review consistent with minimum of Strong/Solid performance on last performance review.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: - Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- ACLS required within 12 months of hire/transfer.
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer OR Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
