About the Role

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and coordinate mechanical engineering activities related to the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of naval vessels, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Develop maintenance schedules and oversee their execution to optimise vessel availability and longevity.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and project management to ensure seamless integration of maintenance activities.
  • Monitor and report on progress, performance metrics, and potential risks associated with mechanical systems maintenance.
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and professional development.
  • Engage with suppliers and contractors to source quality materials, equipment, and services aligned with the company’s standards and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies throughout all maintenance operations.
  • Contribute to process improvements by recommending and implementing best practices in mechanical maintenance procedures and resource management.

 

Requirements

 

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
  • Prior experience in mechanical maintenance or engineering within the naval or maritime sector is highly advantageous.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing teams and projects effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work under pressure, adapting quickly to changing priorities.
  • Sound understanding of mechanical systems in vessels, including propulsion, hydraulics, and auxiliary machinery.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with internal teams, clients, and suppliers
