Teaching Family Homes was brought to Upper Michigan in 1981 to help troubled children and families in the region. Our private, non-profit organization began as a single residential group home serving just six children. Now Hiring: Outpatient Therapist

Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan

Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan is seeking a compassionate, skilled Outpatient Therapist to provide individual, group, and family therapy services to clients within our agency programs. This position works under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services and plays a key role in supporting client growth, stability, and treatment success.

What You’ll Do

As an Outpatient Therapist, you will:

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy to clients as referred and required
  • Complete intake assessments and assist with pre/post assessments prior to discharge
  • Develop and maintain treatment plans, client files, and progress notes accurately and on time
  • Participate in professional staffing team meetings and weekly supervision
  • Attend trainings to strengthen therapeutic skills and maintain best practices
  • Follow all agency policies regarding ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Maintain licensure/certification requirements in the State of Michigan
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for residential programs as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Requirements

 

Required Qualifications

To be considered, applicants must have:

  • A Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field
  • Michigan licensure or certification allowing provision of counseling services (required for billing/contractual needs)
  • A valid Michigan driver’s license, good driving record, and adequate vehicle insurance
  • Ability to pass required background checks
  • Good moral character

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and/or training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

Pre-Employment Requirements

Prior to hire, selected candidates must provide:

  • Official transcripts for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees
  • Proof of Michigan licensure/certification
  • Pass all State and internal background checks
