Position Title:

Head Girls Volleyball Coach


Reports to:

Athletic Director


Position Overview


Lifestyle Statement: Coach must live up to the agreed upon lifestyle statement.

To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to

realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student shall receive

instruction that will lead to the formulation of Christian moral values, sense of accomplishment,

acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-control. The head coach will oversee the

program as it applies to all eligible athletes in conjunction with the Athletic Director.


General:

  • The success of athletic programs have a strong influence on the school community’s image of the entire system.
  • The public exposure is a considerable responsibility and community/parent pressure for winning performance is taxing, but must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and character development.
  • The position includes other unusual aspects such as extended time and risk injury factor.
  • It is the express intent of this job description to give sufficient guidance to function. In cases not specifically covered, it shall be assumed that a coach shall exercise common sense and Godly judgment.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Possesses strong organization and communication skills
  • Send information/correspondence to players/parents as needed
  • Conduct orientation programs for athletes and coaches
  • Assume responsibility for schedule development or schedule verification
  • Conducts weekly devotions while in season
  • Administrative duties
  • Follow and complete the pre-season and post season checklist
  • Work with Athletic Director on ordering needed equipment
  • Work with the Athletic Department to manage travel arrangements
  • Oversee coaching staff across middle and high school levels
  • Ensure compliance to submission of all forms and fees/deposits required by athletes
  • Develop and maintain team rosters
  • Monitor athlete attendance/behavior/academic status
  • Prepare and administer season ending program
  • Forecasting annual program needs
  • Oversee the middle school coaching staff and assist with team placement
  • Training and Preparation duties
  • Appropriate development of core values
  • Creates and shares purpose statement with players and parents
  • Develops a Game Plan and Spiritual Development Plan as part of Coaching for Transformation
  • Appropriate skill development training
  • Appropriate positive motivation
  • Coordinates offseason skill development
  • Collaborates with strength and conditioning coach for in-season and off-season plans

Education/Experience

  • Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned position at the high or college school level
  • Has the demonstrated ability to organize and supervise a total sports program
  • Has substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the program and at the same time must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field
  • Licensing/Certification
  • First Aid, CPR and AED certification preferred
  • Maintains Continuing Education Requirement for MSHSL
