Summary of Position:
The shipping associate is responsible for receiving and storing incoming shipments, assessing stock for damages, recording inventory and accurately filling customer orders. Must have strong skills and experience with data entry, reading Bill of Ladings, and customer service. Must work cooperatively with other associates, vendors, and carriers with little or no supervision.
*Please note: For the first 60-90 days your employment will be through a temp agency. After your tenure has been successfully completed with the agency, Seattle Galvanizing will offer you the position with an increase in pay.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing and Completing orders for delivery or pickup
- Completing shipping documents
- Inspecting Stock for Damages – Notify Manager as necessary
- Verify merchandise and take photos of material arriving
- Operation of Stock Management Tools (i.e. Forklift)
- Keep files of goods shipped and received by preparing regular shipping and receiving reports for managers
- Loading trucks for delivery
- Unloading trucks using a forklift and properly warehousing products
- Verify quantities received and ensure they are in good condition
- Forklift operation
- Maintain Inventory – excellent organizational skills
- Excellent computer knowledge
- Organize merchandise in a warehouse or storage facility by packaging, lifting items as necessary, operating forklifts and pallet jacks for large goods
- Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4 years of shipping and receiving experience is required (Preferably in a production environment).
- Knowledge of hot dip galvanizing, fabrication or other custom metal coating operations is desired.
- Excellent customer relations skills.
- Well-developed phone presence and high comfort level in initiating conversations.
- Self-starter and proactive problem solver, since not every day is the same and the workplace setting is constantly changing.
- Proficiency in inventory software
- Forklift operator experience
- Excellent time management skills
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an office setting; however, incumbent will be required to go into the production environment on a regular basis throughout the day
.
Work Hours:
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
