Description
As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for handling, moving, and storing various non-hazardous and hazardous materials within a warehouse and yard facility. The main duty will include, but is not limited to, picking and packing material, loading and unloading different transport items, recording inventory statuses, and making sure deliveries properly match purchase orders. You will maintain a current forklift certification and follow all company safety guidelines. This position requires patience and steadiness, along with a teamwork mentality.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Verify the accuracy of the quantity and quality of incoming and outgoing deliveries
- Label/Scan every product and put it away accordingly
- Identify, pull, and wrap the correct products per the customer order
- Handle returns by completing documentation and other required communication
- Keep all material handling equipment in the best condition by conducting regular maintenance and logs
- Cycle counting and identifying any inventory issues
- Communicating issues that would include missing and/or damaged material, as well as material that may have been pulled or received incorrectly.
- Keep work areas neat and tidy
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Follow all policies and procedures in the yard, including sales, inventor,y and safety
- Participate in safety training
- Properly use and maintain equipment
- Lead by example, with first-hand knowledge of the area of expertise
- Works well in a group setting
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously
Qualifications:
- Forklift certification
- Knowledge of operating other warehouse machinery
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Critical thinking skills to quickly solve issues and/or problems
- Proficiency with prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift at least 50 pounds as needed throughout the day
· Climb, kneel, reach, or bend throughout the day
· Must wear safety gear, such as goggles and gloves, while performing work
· Ability to operate all equipment on site as necessary
· Able to withstand environmental temperatures. (Winter, Summer temps)
