YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South

Are you passionate about water safety and helping others? Join our team at the YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South as a Lifeguard and make a real difference in our community! We're seeking alert, responsible individuals to ensure the safety and positive experience of our members.

What You'll Do

Ensure the safety of all pool users through constant, vigilant surveillance
Build positive relationships with members and create a welcoming environment
Respond to emergencies quickly and professionally
Maintain pool and facility cleanliness
Assist with swim programs and special events
Help maintain our high standards for water quality and safety

What You'll Need

Must be at least 15 years old
Strong swimming abilities and physical stamina
Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or pass the American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification class provided by the YMCA
Excellent attention to detail and alertness
Great communication and customer service skills
Professional attitude and teamwork

Hours: We're open seven days a week-Various shifts available within these hours.

Monday – Friday: 5:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Sunday: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Physical Requirements-Position requires the ability to:

Maintain constant vigilance and alertness
Perform water rescues when necessary
Hear distress signals and observe entire pool area
Stand or sit for extended periods
Lift and move pool equipment
