About the Role

Description

The Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for advancing the mission of Planet Aid by understanding the overall objectives and meeting established metrics such as volume, quality, revenue and expense control. The OM has financial and operational responsibility for all operational departments and activities in the unit. The OM is responsible for leading and inspiring staff through weekly production meetings and communication regarding growth targets.


In cooperation with Planet Aid’s leadership and the Regional Operations Manager, the OM will help develop new approaches to increasing the pounds collected and assist with providing customer service to the sites.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides overall leadership and direction to direct reports; train, direct, and evaluate employee performance for assigned staff within the department; maintain proper staffing levels in adherence with budgeted guidelines.
  • Maintains a safe environment for all employees. Monitors safety and security procedures and ensures procedures are followed on a continual basis.
  • Participates in the establishment of the annual operating budget and monitors performance to budget throughout the year; establishes annual sales goals (in conjunction with marketing) for the collection of products and initiates actions to achieve the goals.
  • Oversees, audits, and evaluates the Transportation, Production, and Maintenance departments to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Manages preventive maintenance schedules for powered equipment, conveyor, and balers.
  • Ensures the organization is compliant with all regulations including DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA;
  • Analyzes and implements process flow improvements, to include capabilities for growth and to improve efficiency.
  • Continuously monitors the productivity of staff and provides ongoing training and coaching to all direct reports to maximize productivity.
  • Monitors product delivery quality and acts to resolve problems.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 5 years of warehousing/ transportation experience with 2 years of management experience, in a similar setting.
  • LEADERSHIP: Proven track record of successful leadership, good judgment, and goal achievement for a minimum of three years in a production or warehouse environment.
  • COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing: the ability to create clear and professional e-mails, reports, and other written communications, conduct meetings and associate development sessions.
  • OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Expert-level computer skills and applications such as Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with database record keeping and time and attendance systems, and budget software.
