What you will be doing

  • Develops and implements strategies for the Division wide procurement of subcontracts, materials and professional services. 
  • Builds and implements effective organizational structures, guidelines, policies and procedures that align with Corporate Procurement policies.  
  • Plans and identifies supply chain optimizations through cost savings and contractual risk transfer in subcontracts and major purchase orders. 
  • Represents Company along with Corporate Procurement in establishing strategic business relationships with key suppliers, subcontractors and professional service providers. 
  • Negotiates commercial terms and conditions with certain vendors and subcontractors; consult with corporate attorneys and senior management to minimize project and Division risk while maintaining commercial competitiveness. 
  • Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in buying and/or estimating materials, equipment, subcontract and professional services. Oversee division staff training and development.  
  • Liaison between Division Procurement and Operations. 
  • Assists in the development and implementation of procurement and contract management instructions, policies and procedures.  
  • Provides feedback to assist in analyzing market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.  
  • Communicates and enforces purchasing policies & procedures to project team.  
  • Provides training to ensure policies and procedures be followed. 

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field required.  
  • 10+ years’ experience in procurement in heavy-civil construction required. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel) with general knowledge of database utilization.  
  • Knowledge of procurement support processes within an Enterprise Resource Planning system (e.g. JDE, SAP,.)  
  • Knowledge of the supply chain in Construction and Engineering projects (key trades, products, suppliers) 
  • Effective time management and organizational skills  
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to analyze complex data and drive business conclusions 
  • Team player with the ability to also work independently to meet fixed deadlines, goals and objectives.
