About the Role

Description

Balanced Body is seeking an experienced IT Manager to join our Administration team. This position will manage end-user support, IT infrastructure, telecommunications and security. This new position will report to the Director of Business Intelligence and will work with a strong Managed Services Partner to ensure that all users at the organization have the technology necessary to do their jobs, as well as having management responsibility for one Tier 1 technician (a full time employee). This person will work alongside the Balanced Body DevOps team.

This position is on-site at Balanced Body’s location in Sacramento, California.

Balanced Body has been in existence for 50 years, but our IT/DevOps team has been in existence only since 2017. Team members have significant creative freedom, are given latitude to learn new tools, and interact directly with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. This is a highly visible role.

Responsibilities:

This position will have the following responsibilities. Note that many of these are handled wholly or partially by a Managed Services Partner but the IT Manager will be a path of escalation, clarification and approval. The IT Manager will also be expected to step in and assist on high priority or time sensitive items.

  • End-user support management – you would be equivalent to a Tier-3 technician at most helpdesks – you would generally not be the first point of contact, and you would have a path of technical escalation beyond yourself.
  • Exchange/Active Directory/Entra administration. The path of approval for security groups, distribution groups, shared mailboxes, access requests and related questions will come through the IT Manager.
  • Cybersecurity – you will keep up on current trends and threats and ensure that Balanced Body is well-positioned against them.
  • Hyper-V administration of virtual servers. You will ensure our servers are well-provisioned and monitor their health and uptime.
  • Documentation, policies and procedures. You will update existing documentation and create new documentation where none exists. Some of this will be complex technical procedures for technicians to follow and some will be policies for non-technical end users to follow during their day-to-day.
  • Asset tracking. You will maintain a system of tracking asset procurement, deployment and disposal.
  • Networking and telecommunication troubleshooting.
  • Hardware diagnosis and troubleshooting.
  • Management of a Tier 1 IT Technician dedicated to end-user support.
  • Management of, or coordination with, IT-adjacent vendors in fields such as cabling, physical security, AV, and electrical.
  • Software selection support – requirements gathering, RFP, selection and implementation.

Requirements

The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to satisfactorily perform each essential duty:

  • 5+ years of experience with end-user support at multiple organizational levels
  • 5+ years of experience managing virtual machines through Hyper-V
  • 3+ years of experience with cybersecurity responsibilities
  • 3+ years of experience with Exchange online and/or on-premise
  • 3+ years of experience with AD/Entra management
  • Not mandatory but nice to have 2+ years of experience working with Azure administration
  • Ability to create and update excellent documentation for both technical and non-technical users
  • Ability to create clear Policies and Procedures for good IT governance
  • Some experience with networking and telecommunications – IP and MAC addresses, internal DNS, VPN
  • Hardware troubleshooting – cabling, A/V, diagnosis and replacement of components
  • Software selection – requirements gathering, RFP, evaluation and implementation
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite – especially strong with Outlook
  • Ability to function as part of a team

Location: This is a full-time, on-site position.
