About the Role

I. BASIC FUNCTION:

Responsible for managing and overseeing the overall pharmacy operations, including assisting in planning, organizing, 

directing, staffing, training, and controlling activities within the Pharmacy Department in consonance with policies, 

procedures and goals, standard practices of the profession, and state and federal law.

III. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. In the absence of the Chief Pharmacy Officer, assumes overall responsibility for the operation of the 

Pharmacy, including the supervision of compounding, dispensing, and record keeping of all medications by 

pharmacists, technicians, and students.

  1. Assists the Chief Pharmacy Officer in maintaining appropriate drug inventories.
  2. Maintains accurate records of drugs for both internal and external control.
  3. Responsible for the security of pharmaceuticals.
  4. Directly involved in drug dispensing and patient counseling, including the establishment, development, and 

implementation system programs and standards of practice directed at producing an efficient and effective 

drug distribution system to ensure quality patient care.

  1. Responsible for correctness and completeness of all medications dispensed under his/her supervision.
  2. Assists the Chief Pharmacy Officer in training all Pharmacy staff. 
  3. Orders drugs and supplies; responsible for all administrative functions, including orders of control medications, 

as well as non-control medications. Maintains necessary records in accordance with state and federal laws.

  1. Assures perpetual inventory system is updated and accurate.
  2. Maintains accurate billing of medications and devices.
  3. Performs other tasks and projects as assigned.

IV. PERIODIC DUTIES:

  1. Participates in Health Center staff problem solving groups.
  2. Attends and participates in department meetings, etc.
  3. Performs other duties as assigned.

V. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Inside Health Center: All inclusive; collaboration with CEO, CMO, CFO, COO, CBHSO, Associate Medical Directors, 

Associate Dental Directors, Human Resource Director, and all direct reports.

Outside Health Center: Patients/Clients, students, vendors, community health agencies, grant agencies, funding 

agencies, professional colleagues, professional organizations and education institutions, 

hospitals, insurance companies, physician offices, City, State and Federal agencies, etc.

VI. QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD required.
  2. Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy required.
  3. Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Missouri and in good standing required.
  4. Must be in good standing with both Medicaid and Medicare.
  5. Must be trustworthy, possess excellent communication skills and customer service skills.

VII. CONTINUING EDUCATION:

As required by Missouri Board of Pharmacy.

Annual training on Medicare Fraud, Waste and Abuse.

VIII. CONFIDENTIALITY:
