Position Overview
We are seeking an Intern to join our team for the 2026 Summer Internship Program, supporting multiple engineering and software development projects. Interns will contribute to high‑impact initiatives across data infrastructure, flight software, auto‑generation tooling, and simulation systems. Work assignments may vary but will align with the core project categories outlined below.
This is a 14-week internship beginning 05/18/2026 at our Lanham, MD location. To be considered for the internship you must be enrolled in the following semester. If you are a recent graduate, please apply to one of our full-time roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Project 1: Centralization of Data Access and Storage
- Support the creation of backend infrastructure (AWS) and front-end tools for company‑wide data access.
- Assist with database management and development of tools for improved data collection and storage.
- Develop new analytical capabilities within the data lake environment.
- Automate routing of data from primary sources.
- Build tools for enhanced data visualization.
- Project 2: Core Flight Software Development
- Contribute to software architecture efforts, including system‑level and software‑level diagrams.
- Develop, test, and deliver flight software code based on defined requirements.
- Support ongoing work on OISL and defense‑related programs.
- Project 3: Auto‑Generation – Flight Software Integration
- Create automated tools to translate the main satellite database (command and telemetry) into flight software.
- Develop configuration‑driven workflows ensuring consistent communication across systems.
- Deliver tools that will be adopted by Flight Software Engineers by the end of the internship.
- Project 4: Simulation (HIL + SIL/DSS)
- Work with hardware‑in‑the‑loop and software‑in‑the‑loop simulation systems.
- Enhance simulation models to better match real‑time spacecraft behavior.
- Augment existing systems with more accurate spacecraft models.
- General Internship Expectations
- Work onsite daily at the Lanham office.
- Present weekly progress updates to the full team.
- Collaborate closely with a local manager and a dedicated mentor.
Qualifications
Education
Currently pursuing an Engineering degree, preferably in Aerospace Engineering or Computer Science.
Experience
- Exposure to DevOps tools and practices (required for some projects).
- Experience working with embedded systems (required for some projects).
- Exposure to working with databases (required for some projects).
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with AWS or other cloud infrastructure platforms.
- Experience with simulation environments (HIL/SIL).
- Basic understanding of flight software or aerospace systems.
- Exposure to scripting or automation frameworks.
Soft Skills
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in cross‑functional engineering teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and technical deliverables.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical thinking abilities.

- Ability to use a computer and related equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to collaborate in person and move between office and lab/simulation spaces as needed.
