Responsibilities
The Opportunity
The Category Owner leads the national sourcing strategy and operational governance for the MRO portfolio in Mexico, managing $135MM USD in annual spend across Spare Parts, Maintenance Services, Consumables, PPE, Uniforms, and Pallets. The role goes beyond tactical category management and operates as a strategic business leader, accountable for transforming MRO into a scalable, compliant, and digitally enabled function.
The position oversees eight direct reports and directs the E2E execution of the category across 14 plants, setting national standards, building functional capabilities, and ensuring alignment with Engineering, Manufacturing, EHS, Finance, and HR acting as a key LATAM COE partner, the role drives the Centralization agenda, compliance, and long term value creation.
The Category Owner ensures business continuity, risk mitigation, and cost performance by delivering Net Zero Opex Inflation, strengthening supplier governance, and executing productivity and sustainability commitments.
Additionally, the role leads the modernization of the MRO model through digital transformation, including automation of transactional activities, deployment of AI driven autonomous bots, data governance improvements, and workflow redesign to increase control and reduce operational risk.
Your Impact
As Procurement MRO Manager your scope would consist of
1. Centralization & Operating Model Transformation
• Shape and implement the national MRO Centralization strategy in alignment with the LATAM COE.
• Redesign processes, roles, governance, and operating standards to build a unified national WoW.
• Establish integrated controls, standardization, risk mitigation mechanisms, and cross-country alignment.
2. Compliance & Governance Leadership
• Drive full compliance of the MRO operation through national policies, procedures, and contracting governance.
• Ensure spend transparency, cost control mechanisms, and robust supplier lifecycle management.
• Implement audit ready controls, operating standards, and governance routines for ongoing accountability.
3. Business Performance & Financial Delivery
• Deliver Mexico's AOP aligned with procurement category objectives.
• Build and execute a sustainable inflation mitigation model to ensure Net Zero Opex Inflation.
• Lead governance processes to improve visibility, prioritization, budgeting discipline, benefit tracking, and overall performance.
4. Strategy Development & Execution
• Develop the annual 12 month category strategy fully aligned with the COE LATAM 3 year plan.
• Implement sourcing strategies using the 8 Step methodology and contribute to long term regional strategic design.
• Analyze cost structures, industry drivers, and market trends to recommend pricing mechanisms and joint business opportunities.
5. Stakeholder & Ecosystem Management
• Lead stakeholder engagement with Plant Directors, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, SASS, and HR to ensure end to end alignment.
• Strengthen SRM capabilities, supplier governance, and vendor competitiveness to enable efficiency, technology adoption, and innovation.
6. Digital & Transactional Transformation
• Improve MRO transactional model by automating repetitive activities to reduce manual effort and operational risk.
• Lead the development and deployment of AI driven autonomous bots for PR/PO processing and digital process enablement.
• Implement data governance practices and predictive insights to enhance visibility, control, and decision making.
Qualifications
¿Who Are We Looking For?
Senior Stakeholder Management & Influence:
• Proven ability to influence and align Plant Directors, senior leaders in Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance and EHS.
• Experience managing complex supplier ecosystems, including 200+ suppliers, global OEMs, and strategic partners.
Functional & Technical Expertise
• 6+ years exp. in sourcing, or procurement roles, ideally within Indirects or MRO and preferably in the Food & Beverage sector.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Administration, or related fields.
• Strong analytical and financial acumen with deep understanding of cost structures, business economics, and quality drivers.
Communication & Executive Presence
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex topics for senior audiences and influence in a matrixed environment.
• Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and verbal.
