The Enterprise Architect (Customer) reports to the Head of Architecture and plays a key role within Medibank’s Performance, Architecture & Innovation (PAI) team. This position focuses primarily on the customer business domain, which includes private health and financial products, while also influencing broader business and technology areas to ensure strategic alignment.

 

The role is responsible for driving consistency across all customer capabilities, including data and technical platforms, throughout the enterprise. Ultimately, the Enterprise Architect (Customer) is accountable for delivering comprehensive architecture and strategic technology planning that supports Medibank’s organisational goals.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Lead and manage the D&T Customer architecture function (Enterprise, Domain, Platform, Solution architecture practices), ensuring strong architectural coverage across the enterprise.
  • Partner with EAs and liaise with Group Exec, Hub and Squad Leads to understand business context and provide data & technology advice to inform sound business decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior business and technology leaders across Medibank and key external stakeholders.
  • Strengthen alignment between D&T, Architecture Squad and other Group divisions; maintain strong individual stakeholder relationships.
  • Facilitate workshops and architectural discussions with cross‑functional stakeholders; manage and resolve initiative/technology conflicts and risks quickly with clear direction.
  • Work with the Customer Group to translate strategic objectives into integrated, enterprise‑wide IT planning — including multi‑year roadmaps, resource planning, value delivery and technology lifecycle management.
  • Provide strategic direction and uplift team capability through coaching, mentoring and capability development.
  • Design and run the operations of the Medibank Architecture practice and Extended Solution Architecture Mastery operating rhythm in conjunction with Architecture Squad, Ways of Working, communications and administration teams (governance, education, engagement, offsites, leadership meetings).

  • Monitor, assess and track use‑cases for emerging technologies and maintain an emerging technology radar.
  • Establish and manage architecture policies, procedures and standards owned by the wider team.
  • Ensure Architecture Customer team technology risks are managed within appetite or have approved mitigations.
  • Engage contractors, consultants and service providers to support the Architecture Squad as required.
  • Identify and remove roadblocks to project implementation; oversee architectural translation of D&T strategies into market‑ready solutions and timely delivery.
  • Experience with CRM and ERP platforms (e.g. Salesforce, SAP, Dynamics).

 

About you

 

    • Proven experience delivering business‑outcome focused solutions/architecture in a complex corporate environment.
    • Demonstrated experience leading architecture teams (senior/lead/solution architects) with a track record of coaching, mentoring and capability uplift.
    • Strong strategic thinking; able to interpret business strategy and convert to pragmatic architectural advice, roadmaps and target states.
    • Solid business knowledge across Customer domain capabilities (customer experience & engagement, customer data management, insurance policy & claims processes desirable).
    • Good understanding of enterprise architecture practices, standards and methodologies (TOGAF, SAFe or similar) and pragmatic application for value delivery.
