About the Role

Description

Assist the Maintenance and Execution Manager in the execution of daily maintenance operations and work management activities. Ensure safety standards and procedures are consistently applied across all maintenance functions. Verify adherence to established work management processes and maintenance protocols. Collaborate closely with Production to align maintenance activities with operational needs, support machine reliability and uptime, and ensure customer requirements are met. Serve as a technical and operational resource for maintenance supervisors and maintenance personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise maintenance supervisors, including off-shift maintenance supervision.
  • Enforce and support all safety practices and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, hot work, and contractor safety.
  • Assist in overseeing departmental safety compliance through audits, monitoring, and accountability measures.
  • Attend and actively participate in routine meetings, including shift turnover meetings, maintenance planning and scheduling meetings, root cause analysis (RCA) sessions, trades committee meetings, and safety meetings.
  • Participate in and coordinate the biweekly maintenance open safety action meeting.
  • Participate in apprentice and skilled trades committees.
  • Act as the liaison between Operations/Production and the Maintenance department to ensure alignment, communication, and efficient execution of maintenance objectives.
  • Coordinate with production supervisors (gatekeepers) on the prioritization of ready-to-schedule (RS) work for weekly repair and maintenance (R&M) meetings with planners.
  • Ensure production and maintenance execution teams adhere to all Work Management Process (WMP) responsibilities, including:
    • Work Identification
    • Screening
    • Work Execution
    • Completion and Work History Capture
    • Provide or coordinate training as needed to ensure compliance.
  • Daily monitoring and management of mill maintenance work and work request priorities, ensuring scope, labor, and parts are clearly defined and available.
  • Assist in achieving departmental KPIs by effectively utilizing the work management flow process, including work order approval, task execution, timely closure, and prioritization to improve asset availability and reliability.
  • Monitor mill execution KPIs and collaborate with appropriate personnel on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate activities necessary for successful RCAs on key equipment failures (e.g., equipment down for two shifts or longer), including initiation and facilitation of the RCA process.
  • Provide assistance to production and maintenance supervisors with shift-to-shift communication, particularly regarding in-process jobs.
  • Serve as the first line of support for maintenance supervisors in resolving equipment and facility issues prior to requesting Engineering assistance.
  • Coordinate training between the maintenance team and applicable internal departments; collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop employee training programs and maintain a comprehensive training matrix.
  • Monitor requisitions and coordinate vendor assistance as needed.
  • Assist with the review and approval of timecards, paid time off (PTO), purchase requisitions, and stock authorizations.
  • Ensure item stock authorizations are being entered and maintained accurately.
  • Capture, analyze, and report storeroom metrics.
  • Support outage planning, major repairs, and special maintenance projects.
  • Reinforce accountability, work quality, and standard work expectations with trades personnel.
  • Fill in for the Maintenance and Execution Manager when needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, safety-critical operation.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Solid problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience working alongside Reliability or Continuous Improvement teams.
  • Familiarity with preventive, predictive, or condition-based maintenance practices.
  • Project management experience in maintenance or capital projects.
