About the Role

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for a highly skilled leader with proven management experience and a passion for making a difference in the community.


The Assistant Manager - Donor Services in Decatur, AL will assume the responsibility of assisting Regional and District management with overseeing daily operations of the region, including achievement of operational goals.


Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)

- Assist the Regional Manager and/or District Director with the oversight of blood collection and donor recruitment

- Direct and evaluate the work of department supervisors and work with them to manage staff

- Perform and maintain proficiency in phlebotomy

- Review weekly recruitment goals and projections; and implement corrective action when projections and goals are not being met

- Visit drawing sites and mobile collection sites regularly

- Attend all meetings designated for the position (local, weekly, manager and corporate)

- Communicate regularly with Regional Manager and/or District Director about regional performance, staff issues, etc.

- Communicate with corporate departments for any technical or human resource support

- Meet with department supervisors to discuss processes and initiate action on deviations in processes and/or procedures

- Represent and promote the company and its mission to the community

- Be on-call at all times, except when on approved leave (PTO)

- Must have reliable transportation

- Attendance is a requirement of this position


Qualifications

- Previous management experience

- Knowledge of modern principles and practices of administration and organization, including general budgeting, accounting, and personnel techniques and management principles and practices

- Ability to establish effective working relationships with coworkers and the public

- Ability to organize and manage time effectively

- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to prepare concise and informative reports

- Valid driver’s license required. Must meet and maintain LifeSouth driver’s requirements.

- Associate’s degree Preferred

- At least one year or more of previous management experience; prior blood banking experience preferred

- Commercial Drivers License strongly preferred
