We are seeking a Tasting Room Manager to lead our onsite operations and drive Consumer Sales & Marketing (CS&M) profitability. In this full-time, exempt role, you will mentor a high-performing team, spearhead innovative sales initiatives, and ensure every guest receives the exceptional service that defines our brand.
As our Tasting Room Manager, you are the heartbeat of the guest experience and the architect of our onsite sales success. You will lead a high-performing team to deliver world-class hospitality while driving the strategic growth of our wine club and brand loyalty. This is a leadership role designed for a professional who balances a passion for fine wine with a sharp eye for business operations.
The anticipated salary range for this position is between $85,000.00 and $100,000.00. plus annual bonus.
Essential Functions
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Recruit, train, and inspire a world-class hospitality team. You will oversee scheduling, payroll, and continuous education to ensure every staff member is an expert in our wines, our history, and the art of the guest experience.
- The Guest Experience: Cultivate an environment where every visitor feels like a VIP. You will oversee the daily aesthetics of the Tasting Room and Member Parlors, ensuring "responsible hospitality" and seamless service from greeting to glass.
- Strategic Business Growth: Take ownership of the Tasting Room’s P&L. You’ll set daily sales goals, analyze performance metrics, and collaborate with the DTC Director to develop innovative campaigns that boost wine club sign-ups and overall profitability.
- Brand Activation & Outreach: Partner with the marketing team to execute unforgettable onsite events and community programs. You will collaborate with local partners—including hotels and luxury transportation—to keep St. Francis at the top of every visitor's list.
- Operational Excellence: Manage the "behind-the-scenes" engine, including inventory control, POS system accuracy, shipping logistics, and curated wine lists that align with our seasonal releases.
Requirements
What You Bring to the Table
- Experience & Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience). You have at least 5 years of wine industry experience, with a strong preference for those who have mastered the Tasting Room floor.
- Proven Leadership: Minimum of 3 years of experience leading and developing a team. You are a mentor who promotes individual growth and fosters a culture of excellence.
- The "Host" Mindset: Exceptional customer service skills with an intuitive ability to anticipate guest needs. You are passionate about creating experiences that align with St. Francis’ core values and brand image.
- Sales Powerhouse: A demonstrated track record of meeting and exceeding quantitative goals. You know how to project sales, drive wine club sign-ups, and develop new business opportunities.
- Communication Mastery: Excellent verbal and written skills. Whether you are giving a formal presentation or sharing a brand story with a guest, you are articulate, persuasive, and engaging.
- Organized & Tech-Savvy: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and POS/Database systems. You have an eagle eye for detail and the ability to manage constantly changing priorities.
The Essentials
- Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings for special events.
- Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid CA driver’s license.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. (wine cases) and remain standing for extended periods.
