GLP Attorneys is seeking a Medical Records Specialist to join our Burlington office in a full-time, in-office role, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Requirements
The Medical Records Specialist works closely with assigned legal teams to retrieve, organize, and evaluate medical records. Responsibilities include obtaining and managing medical records; entering and maintaining accurate data in case management systems; ensuring the confidentiality and security of medical information in compliance with HIPAA and HITECH; applying RCW guidelines related to the cost and release of medical records and billing; and proactively following up with providers while maintaining clear communication with legal team members.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and interacts with colleagues and providers in a professional manner. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, along with accurate typing skills of at least 50 words per minute. The role requires strong organization and time management, attention to detail, sound problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. A solid understanding of clerical procedures and recordkeeping is essential.
A high school diploma or GED is required; a college degree is preferred. Prior clerical experience is required, and experience working with medical records or in a law firm setting is strongly desired. Experience in plaintiff personal injury law is a plus. Candidates should have strong written communication skills, be comfortable communicating with clients and healthcare providers, and be able to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a team-focused environment.
Compensation and Benefits: The hourly base pay range for this non-exempt, bonus-eligible position is $24.00 – $27.00 per hour.
GLP Attorneys determines the compensation for positions using local, national, and industry-specific data. We evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wages in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our firm. For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers, allowing the new employee room for future growth. Compensation will be based on the applicant's location, level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
