SMG seeks a Safety Advisor – Construction in West Lafayette, Indiana – Day Shift
The key function of a Safety Advisor is to put safety at the forefront of their job, prioritize the client’s needs, work well in a team setting, be self-managed, and be flexible when it comes to change and travel. The Associate in this role will work in a construction environment. This project is scheduled to last for 4 months. They will work 50 hours Monday - Friday and 8 hours on Saturday. This is a new construction project of a semiconductor. This person will be overseeing earthwork.
Overview of Job Responsibilities
- Site safety observations, including documentation of findings
- Must be able to create reports, run safety metrics, and use other software programs
- Conduct Job Hazard Analysis
- Provides incident management and support
- Documentation and Report preparation
- Support and Coordinate Crew communication with on site GC Safety Staff with daily work permits
- Daily support, advise, guidance on OSHA compliance / Site compliance and safe behavior enforcement
- Enforce Owner Site Safety Plan
- Use of Owner's Safety Software – Safety Reports
- Communication with Safety Director
- Assist in Basic First Aid and incident investigations with RCA – STKY process.
Requirements
- Seven plus years of construction safety experience
- Must have a CHST or higher BCSP certification
- Heavy civil experience needed
- Ability to use safety software systems
- A degree in safety or related fields is preferred
- First-aid/CPR certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
- OSHA 510
Physical Demands of the job may include
- Moving about long distances
- Ascending/Descending stairs and ladders
- Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period
- Working in extreme weather
- Being exposed to loud noises
- Wearing personal protective gear correctly
