We’re looking for an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to lead the commercial and administration team on a major, long-term project in Canberra.
As Senior Commercial Manager, you will be required to take ownership of all commercial aspects of a project including administration of the head contract and subcontracts, developing the procurement strategy and processes, as well as outlining cost controls, budgets and manage project cashflow. You will also be responsible to ensuring that contracts and tender documents contain the necessary risk allocation. As this is a leadership role you will manage and mentor your commercial and administration project team through to handover based on site.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Lead all commercial aspects of the project, ensuring financial performance and risk mitigation.
Manage head contract obligations, variations, and claims to protect the business.
Oversee procurement and subcontractor agreements, ensuring clarity and compliance.
Monitor project costs, forecasts, and financial reporting to support decision-making.
Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
Mentor and support commercial staff, fostering a high-performing team culture.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
Ensure all commercial activities align with company policies and audit requirements.
About You:
Degree qualification in a relevant discipline (preferred).
Ideally 15+ years’ experience within a main contractor environment.
Experience across major building projects is essential. Preferred but not essential will be experience on Defence/Government project or with Managing Contractor contract models.
Experience driving forecast and internal reporting to a range of Lendlease stakeholders.
Strong understanding of contracts, financial controls, and risk management, performance reporting, budget preparation and administration
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to mentor and develop team members while driving commercial performance.
