- $19.00-$21.00 per hour

No nights. No weekends. Just meaningful, rewarding work with kids.
What You’ll Do
As Day Camp Lead Staff, you will support the Youth Coordinator and help ensure a safe, engaging, and well-organized camp experience.
You will:
- Supervise groups of children in both indoor and outdoor settings
- Assist in guiding and supporting Day Camp Counselors
- Lead culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities aligned with YMCA values
- Ensure the safety, supervision, and individual needs of all campers are met
- Build strong, positive relationships with campers, families, and staff
- Model leadership, teamwork, and positive relationship-building skills
- Follow all YMCA policies, including child abuse prevention, medical protocols, and emergency procedures
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings
- Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and program quality
This role requires solid judgment, initiative, and the ability to make independent decisions that impact the success of camp.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or two years of college preferred
OR at least two years of Day Camp experience - Experience working with children in large group settings
- Experience in outdoor recreation, sports, aquatics, games, music, or creative programming preferred
- Must be at least 18 years old
- CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (within 30 days of hire)
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Strong communication and leadership skills
What you will do
This is an active role! You must be able to:
- Lead and participate in outdoor and indoor activities
- Walk, stand, bend, lift, reach, and sit on the ground
- Participate in water activities and swim as needed
- Keep up with energetic campers in a fast-paced setting
