Description
HyerTek is a fast-moving Microsoft solutions partner seeking a Data Architect to own the design, governance, and evolution of data architectures across public sector, defense, and commercial programs.
You'll work directly with our solutions team and client stakeholders to assess existing data environments, define target-state architectures, and establish standards for how data flows from source systems into production platforms. That means evaluating legacy landscapes — disconnected databases, spreadsheets, flat files — and designing the schemas, integration patterns, and governance frameworks that bring order to them. You'll define the canonical data models in Dataverse and Azure SQL, architect lakehouse and warehouse solutions in Microsoft Fabric, and establish the semantic layer that powers Power BI reporting and enterprise analytics. You won't just build pipelines — you'll decide how they should be built, set the modeling standards the engineering team follows, and ensure data quality, lineage, and governance hold up at scale.
Requirements
What You'll Do
- Design and maintain enterprise data models across Dynamics 365 / Dataverse, Azure SQL, and Microsoft Fabric — including entity design, relationships, keys, and naming conventions
- Define target-state data architectures for client engagements, mapping from legacy source systems to production environments
- Establish data governance frameworks: ownership, quality rules, lineage documentation, and lifecycle management
- Architect ETL/ELT patterns and integration strategies using Azure Data Factory, Dataflows, Dataverse SDK, and Fabric pipelines — selecting the right approach for each problem
- Design the semantic and reporting layer in Power BI, including dimensional models, DAX measure libraries, and dashboard frameworks that support command-level decision-making
- Evaluate and rationalize client data landscapes — identifying redundancy, quality gaps, and integration risks during discovery and assessment phases
- Set standards for data migration into Dataverse and D365, including referential integrity, transformation logic, validation criteria, and cutover sequencing
- Connect data architecture across Power Platform apps, Power Automate flows, and Power BI for end-to-end traceability
- Operate within Azure Government (GCC High / IL4–IL5) environments and associated compliance boundaries
- Produce and maintain architecture artifacts: data flow diagrams, entity relationship models, data dictionaries, and integration specifications that the delivery team builds from
What You'll Need
- Eligibility for an Active Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required
- 5+ years working across the Microsoft data stack with demonstrated architecture or lead-level responsibility — you've designed the models and patterns, not just implemented them
- Deep experience with Dataverse / D365 data modeling: entity design, relationships, business rules, and governance at scale
- Strong Power BI architecture skills: star/snowflake modeling, DAX optimization, enterprise deployment patterns, and row-level security
- Experience designing data integration and migration architectures — you've handled referential integrity, complex transformations, and phased cutovers, not just simple imports
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric for lakehouse architecture, data integration, and consolidated analytics
- Solid SQL skills and familiarity with scripting in Python, PowerShell, or M (Power Query)
- Prior work in DoD or federal IT environments
- Ability to communicate architecture decisions clearly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
