Description

  

Processes vehicle deals. This includes the verification of costs for accounting activities, including the costs for reconditioning and equipment add-ons, and the legal transfer of documents to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Reviews all documents and information provided by the Sales Department for accuracy and that all information requirements are complete. 

Processes all new and used vehicles for registration in the state in which they will be titled.

Prepares tax and title documents.

Verifies that funds have been collected and the correct lien holder has been paid prior to processing title applications.

Prepares payoff checks for lien holder, trade-ins, purchases, and lease buy-outs.

Bills out all dealer trades and prepares Certificates of Origin; completes transaction sheet.

Maintains a system to verify out-of-state titles.

Must verify existing customer database information prior to creating a new entry.

Answers incoming phone calls and directs caller to the appropriate department or individual.

Assists with clerical duties as requested.

Receives cash, checks, and credit card payments from customers and records the amount received.

Reconciles credit card receipts on a daily basis to the summary report generated by the credit card machine; records and files all required information.

Cross-trains other employees, at the discretion of the Controller, to assume Title Clerk daily responsibilities.

Directs the Title Runner in daily routines.

Acts as backup to switchboard operator.

Requirements

Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Required: High School Graduate 

Preferred: A minimum three years of similar work experience in a dealership environment.

Must be a person who is focused on self-development and growth of the skills and knowledge needed to be effective and successful in this position. 

Possession of mathematical and accounting abilities at the level required to perform detailed transaction functions are critically important to success in this position.

Fluency in the English language (read, write, and speak) sufficient to read, write, analyze and interpret documents, correspondence and procedure manuals are required.
